JOB # 3 – LITERATURE CONNECTIONS
The part where the Scouts went to Peyton's house and tempted him, and the hanging of Peyton reminds me of the Salem Witch Trials. When the Scouts went to Peyton's house to tempt him, it reminds me of how people would accused other for being a witch. You might ask why. Well, the scouts couldn't have possible known how much Peyton was willing to do for the south. Just like when someone was to accused another for being a witch, they couldn't know if was true. Also, the hanging of Peyton was similar to the harsh punishment for being a "witch." I felt like Peyton's punishment was extremely severe. I think he could have been locked away or be forced to work in a place that would help the union causes. Just like if someone would be condemned as a witch, they would be condemned to death, which I thought was an extremely harsh punishment. This is just what I thought of when I read the story.
